... but I said it quietly

PreK3 started this week. IP did very well and received rave reviews from his old and new teachers. Before school started, IP informed me that he didn't have any friends at school and I quickly informed him that new boys and girls would be starting. His little face lit up. Thursday morning upon our arrival, an old friend from summer camp, Abby, invited IP to play with play-doh with her. I spoke to another mom and she told me that her son, Cameron, went on and on about his new friend IP the previous evening. Today, IP told me he doesn't have friends and plays by himself. I know differently. I wonder why he thinks he doesn't have friends?
Yesterday, IP learned the term "butthead" from an older student in his daycare class. GREAT! Last night, IP was given two warnings and an explanation as to why he is not allowed to say the "bad" word. This morning, IP wanted to tell me a secret and whispered "butthead" in my ear. He was quickly scolded and told there would be no TV or DVDs tonight. Poor IP replied, "but I said it quietly." Am I a mean mom or what?
