Independence Day & a Darker Shade of White

Uncle Erroll and Aunt Kendra drove in for the Independence Day weekend. Erroll and Josh plan to enter the Lemons Race this Fall and Erroll decided to model his fire suit for us. Go Speed Racer Go! Dad thought IP would like to read all about Fiat repair. By the look on his face, I don't think he's game. Grandma joined us for hamburgers and fireworks and volunteered to watch IP while the rest of us went to the Alamo Drafthouse for Mister Pancake's movie roast of "Independence Day." I don't think we can seriously watch Will Smith ever again without hearing "Welcome to Earf" in our heads.

IP completed his solar system mobile at the beginning of the month. He can name all eight planets and can tell you there are an additonal three dwarf planets (Ceres, Eres and Pluto) along with the Kuiper Belt.

IP and I drove to Houston since Dad had some business there. On our first day, we visited my old friend and her family. Krista and I met in the second grade and have been friends ever since. We have 4 year old boys born just days apart. LJ and IP had a blast swimming and thanks to LJ, IP seems to think floaties aren't necessary. The second day, we drove to see Cousin E. She has grown so much since we saw her last February and can you believe she started crawling at eight months? Aunt Amy and Uncle Mike took us all out for dinner and IP met a pizza dough throwing chef. IP even had his own pizza dough to squish. Our third day, we swam some more at the hotel and then hit the road home. We've been swimming a lot this summer and I've been getting some much need sun. (At my last visit to the thyroid doc, I was informed I'm vitamin D deficient.) I am proud to say I am now a darker shade of white with freckles.
